During April CO2CRC welcomed more than 30 guests to its Otway Research Facility.  The visitors, from the University of Melbourne, Advisian, the Global CCS Institute, Southern Rural Water, Environment Protection Agency, Earth Resources Regulation and the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, were able to view first-hand the drilling of a new 1,667 metre appraisal well.  The well is the first step in CO2CRC’s five-year $41 million project which aims to significantly reduce long-term monitoring costs through the deployment of subsurface techniques.

The guests enjoyed seeing the drilling rig in action and appreciated the importance placed on safety.  “I was impressed with Project Manager Steve Marshall’s presentation and knowledge of the operation, and his emphasis on safety, which was up with best practice in our industry,” said Natasha Sinclair, Principal Consultant/Study Manager at Advisian.
